Epoxy Flooring Trends to Watch in 2026

From earth tones to one-day installs, here's what we're seeing trend in Gainesville garage and commercial epoxy projects for 2026.

Trend 1: Earth tones replacing gray

The decade of gray everything is finally ending. 2026 clients are asking for warm browns, terracotta, sage green, and creamy neutrals. We're installing more 'Espresso' and 'Forest Floor' metallic blends this year than in the last three combined.

Trend 2: Matte finishes

Mirror-gloss has been the default for 20 years. Satin and matte topcoats are gaining ground fast β€” they show less dust, hide minor scratches, and feel more sophisticated. We now offer satin (40-60 sheen) and matte (10-20 sheen) polyaspartic topcoats on every project at no upcharge.

Trend 3: One-day polyaspartic installs

Pure polyaspartic systems install in 8-10 hours start to finish, walk-ready in 6 hours, drive-ready in 24. We're booking these for clients who can't afford a 3-day garage shutdown β€” Realtors prepping listings, homeowners with single-car attached garages, and commercial spaces that need to reopen fast.

Trend 4: Color-flake quartz blends

Mixing decorative quartz aggregate with traditional vinyl flakes creates a more refined, terrazzo-like appearance. Higher cost but absolutely stunning in high-end residential and commercial showrooms.

Trend 5: Indoor-outdoor continuity

Clients are running the same flooring from interior bonus rooms out to lanais, pool decks, and outdoor kitchens for visual continuity. Polyaspartic + cool-deck textured topcoat lets us actually do this in Florida.

Trend 6: Brand-color metallic for businesses

Restaurants, breweries, dealerships, and retail showrooms are installing metallic epoxy that incorporates their brand colors into the floor itself. We've done deep emerald green for a brewery, signature blue for an auto dealer, and rich copper for a Gainesville restaurant β€” all in the last six months.

Trend 7: Eco-friendly low-VOC formulations

Polyaspartic chemistry is naturally low-VOC and most major manufacturers now offer water-based decorative options. Clients with chemical sensitivities or pets/kids in the home increasingly request these. The performance gap with traditional epoxy has nearly closed.

What's NOT trending

Solid bright primary colors (red, blue, yellow) are out. Stark white is out (impossible to keep clean). Imitation stone patterns (slate, marble printed onto the floor) are losing ground to genuinely-poured metallic. Sparkle-heavy flake blends are giving way to subtle quartz.
